The cast of the upcoming Power Rangers movie just got a bit bigger. Bryan Cranston announced on Twitter Tuesday night he has joined the cast to play the role of Zordon.

In the original television show, Zordon was merely a disembodied head, trapped in a time warp by his nemesis, Rita Repulsa. Zordon manages to seal Rita away, although she eventually breaks free. As Rita breaks loose, Zordon organizes the Power Rangers by recruiting a group of martial arts-savvy teenagers. Whether this movie version of the Power Rangers will stay true to that background remains to be seen, as it also remains unknown if Cranston’s head will be the only thing we see. Could we see a full-bodied Zordon?

The role of Rita Repulsa was previously filled by none other than Elizabeth Banks. Cranston and Banks are now the big name actors in the film, and it would truly be wonderful to see the two clash in some way on the big screen. While Banks is venturing into the Power Rangers universe for her first time, this is sort of a return to the past for Cranston. Cranston provided the voice work for a couple of Power Rangers villains on the original TV show.

Filming for the new Power Rangers film has already been completed, with the shooting wrapping up in late May. Power Rangers is scheduled for a release date of March 24, 2017.
