The national discussion regarding police violence in America has reached a fever pitch.

Colin Kaepernick is one of the reasons that a dialogue is taking place. Multiple displays of brutality around the country have been seemingly overlooked and the San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback is bringing attention to a dire cause. Regardless of his intentions, it has brought forth plenty of scary moments including threats on his life.

Now, a restaurant in Virginia seems to have found a new way to show their lack of appreciation for Kaepernick’s protests.

Virginia Beach resident James Perry took a photo of the jersey on the floor being used as a welcome mat. The reaction to the photo has been mixed as many are still split on the gesture.

Perry has called for a boycott on the bar until it is removed.

CBS affiliate WTKR spoke with the manager of Krossroads & Country bar concerning the welcome mat and they said it was about “sportsmanship and Kaepernick’s disrespect of the flag – not race.”

When Perry was asked about his first thoughts when he saw the sign, he was stunned.

“What went through my mind was like ‘Wow, is this real or is it a joke?’ How would you feel if someone taped a police officer’s uniform down?”

Whether you agree or disagree with Kaepernick’s protest, the childish nature of his detractors only makes his stance look more noble.
