The San Francisco Giants are now off to Chicago to play the Cubs in the NLDS, after taking down the Mets 3-0 in a fantastic NL Wild Card Game on Wednesday night at Citi Field.
Madison Bumgarner did what Madison Bumgarner seems to always do this time of the year: Dominate. The 27-year-old left-hander threw a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and two walks over nine innings. He now has a postseason scoreless streak of a ridiculous 23 1/3 innings.
Death, taxes and Bumgarner in October.

Here was Bumgarner getting the final out on pitch-119:
The game was 0-0 going into the top of the ninth, when MLB journeyman Conor Gillaspie played the role of Cody Ross (or Travis Ishikawa) and destroyed a pitch from Mets closer Jeurys Familia for a three-run dinger. Here’s video of what would serve as the game-winning homer:
And SportsCenter shared the radio calls from the Giants (Jon Miller) and Mets (Howie Rose) of Gillaspie’s homer:
A heartbreaking way for the Mets to lose, and Noah Syndergaard most certainly deserved better. Game 1 of the NLDS is set for a 9:15 PM ET start on Friday at Wrigley Field, with Jon Lester taking on Johnny Cueto.
