Perhaps you have your Ken Bone costume ready or possibly even Sexy Harambe for Halloween this year. Perhaps to little surprise, however, you can expect to see Harley Quinn more than any other costume in 2016.

It makes sense when you think about it, Margot Robbie is one of the brightest stars in Hollywood and despite lukewarm reviews, Suicide Squad still made loads of money at the box office. That means plenty of eyes were on the silver screen and particularly on Robbie.

Google Frightgeist has the most popular costume search terms and Quinn comes up as first and it isn’t even close. Most of the top ten is filled out by superhero/super villain costumes. Which may be a good barometer for Halloween but could also be a good barometer for the cosplay that is done at various comic con’s across the nation.

The Top Ten includes:

  1. Harley Quinn
  2. The Joker (presumably the Jared Leto version)
  3. Superhero
  4. Pirate
  5. Wonder Woman
  6. Witch
  7. Batman
  8. Star Wars
  9. Clown
  10. Dinosaur

Taking a closer look at the numbers, you’ll see that most of the political candidates are far down the list, most notably Donald Trump is 69th (the jokes write themselves). Hillary Clinton is nowhere to be found on the list. Not enough interest in pantsuits.

Halloween is supposed to be a time for people to dress up and let loose but it should also be a time for creativity, don’t wear a costume everyone else is wearing. Be a tad more creative than your peers, go as Debbie Wasserman Schultz and be the belle of the ball. You’ll thank us later for it.
