A disappointing season for the Seattle Seahawks got worse Sunday, when the team announced tight end Jimmy Graham had torn his patellar tendon and will be out for the season, according to NFL.com.

Graham left Sunday’s win over the Steelers in the fourth quarter after landing awkwardly on a pass in the end zone.

The 6-foot-7-inch tight end stood second on Seattle in receptions (48) and receiving yards (605) on the season. His numbers were down significantly from his last four years in New Orleans, when he averaged 89 catches and 1,099 yards a season while reaching three Pro Bowls.

Coming off two straight NFL championships, the Seahawks are 6-5, currently sit in second place in the NFC West and are right in the thick of the wild-card race.

Losing Graham will be a big blow. Seattle’s back-up tight-end, Luke Wilson has 12 receptions for 152 yards on the season. Graham had almost as many catches this season as Wilson, a third-year pro, has for his career (52).
