A lot of people are pretty excited about American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, which debuts Tuesday night on FX and should draw quite the wide audience. But one notable figure will not be among the masses watching the new miniseries: O.J. Simpson himself.
According to Inside Edition, Simpson would like to view the show about his infamous murder trial, but the Lovelock, Las Vegas prison at which he’s currently incarcerated does not get FX.
Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 murder the miniseries will focus on, was convicted on 12 counts of robbery and kidnapping in 2008 and is currently serving a sentence of 9-33 years in prison.
The Inside Edition report, based largely on an interview with Simpson’s friend Tom Scotto also includes details about the former Heisman-winning running back’s ballooning weight.
Scotto shared details of The Juice’s life behind bars, revealing that he is suffering from depression and piling on weight, now tipping the scales at 300 pounds.
“He’s very, very heavy,” Scotto said. “He’s gained a lot of weight, he eats commissary food and it’s all junk food.”
The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, which serves as the first season of the new American Crime Story franchise, stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson but reportedly focuses more on the lawyers than on the former football star himself.
