Injuries are unfortunately a part of football, but the Baltimore Ravens took things to a new level when their mascot was injured during a recent preseason game. Now, we know what the prognosis will be for Poe the Raven.
During halftime of last week’s preseason matchup against the Washington Commanders, Poe was participating in a youth football game when he was tackled and came up holding his knee. Medical professionals arrived and carted the giant bird-man off the field.

The NFL world had a field day with the incident. Now, the Ravens themselves appear to be keeping the bit going. On Thursday, head coach John Harbaugh made a special announcement about the unfortunate injury situation for Poe.

“Poe is gonna be put on injured reserve for the rest of the season,” said Harbaugh in the staged interview video. “Unfortunately he sustained a serious injury to his drumstick and he will not be able to perform for the rest of the season. We will find a replacement. We’re gonna go to work on that right away.”
You never want to hear about a drumstick injury but unfortunately, here we are.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter even got in on the action to make an official report on Poe.
Naturally, the NFL world had to chime in with their thoughts on the most fun injury announcement of the 2022 NFL season, with many of them breaking out whatever bit of an Edgar Allen Poe poem they remember from middle school.
