The Internet is forever, or so the saying goes. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman probably wishes that weren’t the case, after he made a hilarious typo in a tweet about Aaron Judge Tuesday afternoon.

As speculation ran rampant that the slugger was close to a deal with the San Francisco Giants, reporters raced to get updates out on Twitter.

Heyman rushed it a bit too much, tweeting “Arson Judge appears headed to the Giants.”

Yes, Judge set baseball on fire last season with huge stats, but he prefers to go by Aaron.

Heyman quickly deleted the tweet, but it was too late.

Heyman took plenty of heat for the error as fans roasted him. Nothing too incendiary — everyone just wanted to have some fun. Even the respected Baseball Reference website got in on the act, tweeting out the slugger’s stats page with the name, “Arson Judge.”

Other MLB fans quickly checked in.

“First ballot Hall of Fame tweet,” Ryan Gaydos tweeted.

“Judge truly plans to burn it all down this offseason,” tweeted Jake Ciely.

As it turns out, reports of Judge’s impending signing with the Giants were quickly extinguished. Giants CEO Larry Baer told the Washington Post, “Nothing to report” on Judge.

Whatever Judge ultimately decides, baseball fans will always have the “Arson Judge” tweet burned in their memories.
