A recent article written about Tom Brady by prominent reporter Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle caused quite a bit of controversy in the NFL world this week.

Following last week’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers, Silver published an article that included a section indicating that before each game, Tom Brady runs a separate meeting with Buccaneers players where he makes changes to the gameplan without the knowledge of the coaching staff.

“On the night before each game, Brady runs a separate meeting with the Bucs’ skill players during which he goes over the gameplan, makes tweaks to assignments and formations and provides a revised blueprint—one which first-year head coach Todd Bowles, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and the rest of the staff are left to discover in real time once the game begins,” Silver wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle.

It’s a pretty wild report. But when asked about it this week, Tom Brady flatly denied it.

“No,” Brady told reporters on Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk. “I have no idea. I mean, anybody can write anything, and say whatever they want. So, no. . . . I’m not gonna respond to every — next question.”

It’s certainly an odd situation. And while Brady did deny it, it doesn’t answer why such a prominent reporter would make the assertion in the first place.
