World-famous rapper Drake is no stranger to massive professional sports bets. Earlier this year, he won a massive wager on the Stanley Cup Playoffs series between Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lighting going to seven games. And he placed another huge wager on the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between France and Argentina – but this one didn’t quite go his way.

According to a report from Vulture, Drake lost a $1 million bet on Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. Because even though Argentina did lift the trophy when all was said and done, Drake’s bet was for Argentina to win during regulation. Instead, the match was tied after regulation and Argentina only prevailed after penalty kicks.

“Drake lost a $1 million bet on the outcome of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France on Sunday,” Jennifer Zhan of Vulture. “He put his money on Argentina winning, and Lionel Messi did indeed emerge victorious … just not as quickly as the rapper had hoped. As shown in a screenshot posted to his Instagram, Drake bet in the 1×2 market, where extra time isn’t counted and the result is determined based on the score after 90 minutes of play.”

It’s a massive loss that would have paid out $2 million if he won, but it’s safe to say it won’t hurt Drake’s bank account too much.
