The Sony Open in Hawaii is taking place this weekend, and one PGA Tour golfer saved his tournament with an insane hole-in-one to just get above the cutline of -2 on Friday.
Canadian golfer Adam Svensson came into the seventh hole — his 16th — sitting at even for the tournament but vaulted just above the cutline with an incredibly clutch hole-in-one.

He very clearly knew that this shot was an absolutely momentum changer for his tournament as soon as it went into the hole, dropping his club and going to hug his caddie.
Svensson would go on to make par on the eighth and ninth holes to ultimately finish at -2 and continue on to play the weekend, which has some huge implications in terms of payout from the PGA Tour at the end of the tournament.
By making the cut, Svensson guaranteed himself $16,985 for the event, and that could exponentially rise drastically if he gets hot throughout the weekend.
This also has a ton of impact on his ranking in the FedEx Cup standings. He came into the tournaments as the No.8 golfer in the standings, and a good finish to the tournament could keep him near the top of that list.
The hole-in-one was actually the second of the tournament, with the first coming from PGA Tour veteran Ryan Armour on Thursday at the 17th hole.

While this was also impressive from Armour, his didn’t have nearly the meaning as Svensson’s as Armour did not end up making the cut.
It is always an incredible moment for any golfer to accomplish a hole-in-one, but to do so when he needed it most as Svensson did puts an additional cherry on top.
