Last month, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay caused quite a stir before the Georgia Bulldogs national championship game against the TCU Horned Frogs when he claimed that Georgia star defensive end had some vague “character issues,” suggesting that he might not be well-liked in the locker room. But one Georgia walk-on has a story that shows that isn’t the case.

Georgia walk-on defensive lineman Weston Wallace shared quite a heartwarming story about Jalen Carter, revealing that before the season started Carter found out that Wallace couldn’t eat all the meals the scholarship defensive linemen were getting because walk-ons weren’t able to be given lunch by the team, but this year the players were given the choice to buy it. So Carter decided to buy it for him.

“Jalen heard about that. I’m the only walk-on in the defensive line room and he goes, ‘I’m not gonna let that happen.’ So he used his scholarship money to pay for me to get lunch every single day,” Wallace told The Athletic.

Wallace said that anybody who thinks Carter could have “character issues” simply doesn’t know him.

“You honestly don’t know the guy if you think that. You can ask anybody on the team, whether it’s the O-line that he bullies every day out there … everybody thinks he’s an all-around great guy, and I think he’ll be great for any team that picks him.”
