Former Ohio State Buckeyes star Raekwon McMillan suffered a brutal injury on Thursday that may cost him dearly. The New England Patriots linebacker sustained a partially torn Achilles tendon in practice on a day when the Pats had many other issues emerge as well. As a result of the injury, McMillan will head to IR.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic was among those to report the news. “Patriots LB Raekwon McMillan suffered a partially torn Achilles in practice, which led to his placement on IR, according to a source,” Howe tweeted.

The Patriots are the fourth team that McMillan has played for in his short career. In 2018, the Miami Dolphins drafted him, and he played for the ‘Phins for two seasons. Then he joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 before missing the entire 2021 season. This came after a similar terrible injury, as he sustained a torn ACL in practice in August 2021.

Raekwon McMillan previously signed a contract extension earlier this off-season. So at the very least, he does have some security right now. But two bad leg injuries in the last three years are a tough blow for the former Buckeye. The hope now is that he can return to form, somehow, and if nothing else, have a speedy recovery and live a livable life.
