Andrew McCutchen just hit a milestone. The Pittsburgh Pirates legend clobbered his 300th career home run on Sunday, an achievement worthy of heaping praise.
Cutch slammed his 300th career home run against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. A fitting choice, as the Phillies are one of the few teams that the 2013 National League Most Valuable Player has played for that weren’t the Pirates.
McCutchen’s home run came in the ninth inning while the Pirates were already out in front. His blast put the Buccos up 9-2 to put the cherry on top.

With the home run, McCutchen became the 160th player in Major League history to hit 300 career home runs. His homer broke a tie with Angels great Tim Salmon as the two both had 299 home runs going into the day.
Now, McCutchen can celebrate this milestone with the Pirates, the team that he’s best known for. It’s great for the Pirates and their fans that one of the best players in franchise history could achieve this milestone wearing their uniform.
Now, it’ll be a matter of seeing what else Cutch has left. The 2013 NL MVP probably doesn’t have much time playing ball left in his illustrious career. Perhaps the hungry Pirates can continue their winning ways and potentially make a run to the MLB Postseason.
The MLB world celebrated Andrew McCutchen and his historic accomplishment.
