After Jedd Fisch left Arizona for Washington, it was probably inevitable that at least one of his recruits would try to follow him. Demond Williams, an elite quarterback recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, reportedly will visit the University of Washington campus.

Blair Angulo of 247Sports reported the details on Thursday.

“Arizona transfer quarterback Demond Williams, an All-American Bowl selection and Elite 11 finalist in the 2024 class, will officially visit Washington this weekend,” Angulo wrote. Angulo posted the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Washington’s need for a quarterback not only increased following Michael Penix Jr.’s departure, but also after their head coach left as well. Kalen DeBoer took the Alabama Crimson Tide job, setting off a swath of transfers and departures from Seattle. Quarterback Austin Mack, a highly-touted recruit from 2023, announced on Thursday that he was also going to the Crimson Tide. Thus, it begets a significant need for a QB.

It makes sense that at least one of Fisch’s Arizona recruits would follow him. While his reported three-minute team meeting left many Arizona players, fans, and otherwise flustered, it wasn’t likely that everyone wasn’t going to follow him. For Fisch, a quarterback deciding to do that is major. It’s obviously the most important position, and with the way things looked, Washington absolutely needed something.

They also needed something good to happen to them. Perhaps this is just the beginning.
