The NFL world is buzzing over big news out of Los Angeles. The Chargers made a move to help benefit them as they continue to try and navigate out of a terrible cap situation.

Los Angeles will restructure EDGE Joey Bosa’s contract. This decision comes after the team recently got fellow EDGE Khalil Mack to do the same. The move now retains both Bosa and Mack in LA, which is certainly the ideal scenario.

On Thursday afternoon, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter emerged with details of the deal between Bosa and the Chargers. The ESPN insider posted the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

“Pro Bowl DE Joey Bosa restructured his contract to remain with the Los Angeles Chargers,” Schefter said.

In eight seasons in San Diego (one year, his rookie season) and Los Angeles, Bosa amassed 67.0 career sacks and 321 total tackles. He’s posted four double-digit sack seasons in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021. He’s been a top-tier player that was playing on an exorbitant contract. Luckily, LA was able to negotiate a restructuring of that previous deal. They didn’t have to part ways with him like they did wide receiver Mike Williams, a longtime veteran of the team. LA also didn’t have to for Khalil Mack, meaning two key defensive players will remain on the Chargers.

The NFL world had much to say about this move.
