The Washington Commanders have a pivotal decision this April. Once the Chicago Bears are off the clock, the Commanders will have everyone’s attention at the 2024 NFL Draft. They face a crossroads as a franchise, and their pick could prove very consequential.

So maybe it’s no surprise that the owner of the team is sitting in on meetings at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Josh Harris, the Commanders’ new owner, has reportedly participated in meetings the team held with prospects.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the news of Harris’ presence in these meetings early Thursday morning.

“Attending his first combine as the Washington Commanders owner, Josh Harris has sat in and taken part of each of the six interviews that the team has conducted with the top quarterback prospects in this draft,” Schefter said. Schefter broke the news on X, the popular website formerly known as Twitter.

Schefter notes that most owners don’t attend the annual Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. But evidently, Harris wants to make a good impression. It’s pretty imperative he does the bare minimum and the right thing, if nothing else, to compete optics-wise with former disgraced owner Daniel Snyder. Wanting to oversee things might be seen as meddling, but since we’re so early in the process, it’s difficult to really read it that way.

So, that said, this is obviously a step in the right direction for the Commanders. May their good fortune continue… unless you’re a fan of their NFC East rivals, of course.
