If you’re expecting Deion Sanders’ kids to head to the NFL soon, don’t count on it.

The Colorado Buffaloes head coach joined ‘The Dan Patrick Show’ on Tuesday ahead of CU’s game vs. the 6-3 Arizona Wildcats this weekend. Sanders’ kids, Shedeur and Shilo, have been notable pieces to the puzzle in Boulder this season.

Shedeur, the team’s quarterback, had the nation raving about his passing abilities in the first chunk of the season. Shilo, meanwhile, has played defensive back and has done well at times. But Deion pumped the brakes on his kids’ NFL draft prospects.

“They’re going to come out (for the NFL Draft) next year,” Sanders said on the show, according to CFB reporter Bryan Fischer. “They’re not trying to leave daddy this year, by the way,” Prime added.

It’s a notable announcement, especially in Shedeur’s case. He figured to be one of the noteworthy quarterbacks to come out for 2024, but it sounds like we’ll have to wait until 2025. That thins the pool ever so slightly, as Caleb Williams and Drake Maye will likely be QB1 and QB2 next Spring anyway.

Putting a cork in it now in November is understandable for a few reasons. If the 4-5 Buffs make a bowl game, don’t expect Sheduer and Shilo to opt out of it to look forward to the NFL then. That may happen next Winter, but it sounds like it won’t anytime soon.
