The Atlanta Falcons made a big trade on Thursday with the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Desmond Ridder will have a new home address as the former Cincinnati standout will head to the desert.
In exchange, the Cardinals will send wide receiver Rondale Moore, a former standout at Purdue University.
The trade emerged on Thursday afternoon. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero was among those to first report the details.
“Trade! The Cardinals are trading WR Rondale Moore to the Falcons for QB Desmond Ridder,” Pelissero said. Pelissero reported the deal on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Moore is a third-year wide receiver who’s gotten some traction out in Arizona. He’s never exceeded 64 targets in a season, but he’s made good on what he has. He has three career touchdowns, one in each season, and 1,201 yards. Moore might just benefit in an offense where there’s a little bit more of flexibility in the offense.
Meanwhile, Ridder will likely serve as Kyler Murray’s backup in Arizona. It didn’t go too great for Ridder with the Falcons, as the team didn’t take many leaps forward after they drafted him. They’ve replaced him with Kirk Cousins, so a trade wa anticipated. It will prove interesting to see if Ridder can stick around somewhere like the Cardinals.
All told? It’s an intriguing trade with sneaky upside on each side.
