The NFL might be dormant, but a big trade that will have some serious impact just went down. The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to trade pass-rusher Haason Reddick across the Delaware River to the New York Jets.
New York will send a conditional draft pick in 2026 in exchange for the tenacious Reddick, who’s been a terror on the EDGE the last few seasons with the Eagles.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter emerged Friday with details on the deal.
“Eagles are sending edge-rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could be a second,” Schefter said on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

The 2026 pick becomes a 2nd if Reddick has 67.5% playtime this season and has 10 or more sacks. If not, it’s a 2023 third pic.twitter.com/AcjiqZE2L4

Reddick won’t move too far away from Philadelphia as he goes up the Jersey Turnpike to the Meadowlands. Reddick played at Temple in college, so all of this remains incredibly familiar to him. He must have been some kind of fish out of water when he began his career in Arizona. He’s also leading quite a charmed life, as not everyone gets to play around where they went to college for most of their career. Reddick also played one season with the Carolina Panthers in 2021.
The two-time Pro Bowler from Camden, New Jersey, has amassed 58.0 career sacks in seven years in the NFL. He has four consecutive seasons of 11.0+ sacks, including 16 during the 2022 season.
The Jets will get a great player to bolster their defense in the hopes of turning it around next year.
