Throughout the first half of the season, Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams certainly was not shy at all about his criticism of the offense and demanding that he be thrown the ball more during games. Turns out, all it took was for him to get his targets was a change at head coach.

During Sunday night’s win over the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce seemed to make a concerted effort to get the ball to Davante Adams as the star receiver had 13 targets in the game while the rest of the team had 12 combined. And after the game, Pierce made it clear that this was intentional – while throwing in what could be perceived as a brutal shot at previous head coach Josh McDaniels.

“The first couple plays were right to him. Get the ball in his hands, get him going. When you’ve got one of the best receivers in the game, I’m not stupid. I know who to get the ball to,” Pierce said according to Pro Football Talk.

It’s not clear whether or not that “I’m not stupid” comment was intended as a subtle jab at McDaniels, but it is clear that he’s taking a much different approach that McDaniels did.
