On Monday night, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that veteran free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins was seriously considering a move to Atlanta to join the Atlanta Falcons. And based on some recent context from Florio, it sounds like he’s working out all the details of the move – including potentially acquiring his favorite jersey number.

During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Mike Florio suggested – but notably was not able to confirm – that Kirk Cousins inquired about taking the No. 8 jersey number currently worn by Atlanta Falcons star tight end Kyle Pitts.

“There’s an effort to look for maybe schools for the kids, house for the family, up to and including – and I haven’t confirmed this part yet, but it’s just one of those little things that makes sense – you know, talking to the guy who currently wears No. 8, Kyle Pitts, about getting No. 8,” Florio said on the show.

Pitts has worn the jersey number ever since he joined the team as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But if Cousins is serious, it sounds like there’s a chance that Pitts could be getting a new number ahead of next season if the Falcons do add Cousins this offseason.
