On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a short-term deal.

Garoppolo, 32, joins the Rams after a disappointing season with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders signed Garoppolo last offseason after his run with the San Francisco 49ers ended. An injury-riddled season later, the Raiders cut Garoppolo to make him a free agent. Fortunately, he won’t have to move far to his new location.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news of the newest Rams signing.

“Rams officially signed QB Jimmy Garoppolo to a 1-year deal,” Schefter posted on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Garoppolo has played in the NFL for ten years, and the Rams will be his third team. He began his career with the New England Patriots and played three seasons with them. He was viewed as Tom Brady’s potential understudy. But that changed when the Patriots traded him to the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.

Garoppolo spent six seasons with the 49ers. His best season was in 2019 when he helped the team advance toward a Super Bowl appearance. He then had a 2021 postseason in which he nearly led the Niners to the Super Bowl again. But the Rams, funnily enough, stopped the 49ers from getting there.

So now, Garoppolo will join one of the 49ers’ rivals and hope to get his career back on track.
