The deadline to declare for the NFL Draft has come and gone. Now we know the status of one of the Big Ten’s best quarterbacks of all time. Maryland Terrapins quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa plans to enter the 2024 NFL Draft after a celebrated college career.
247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported the news of Tagovailoa’s decision to enter the NFL Draft. Zenitz broke the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“Taulia Tagovailoa is set to enter the NFL Draft,” Zenitz said.

Zenitz added that Tagovailoa had been contemplating entering the NCAA transfer portal. However, it seems that he’s poised to go pro now and hopefully extend his football-playing career. Taulia is the younger brother of NFL star Tua Tagaovailoa, the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.
Taulia spent four years in College Park, Maryland, after one season with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2019. He spent three seasons as a starter and was a prolific collage passer. He finished his college career with 11,356 passing yards, the most for any quarterback in Big Ten history. Think about how long the Big Ten has existed!
Last season, Tagovailoa threw for 3,377 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. His career-high in touchdowns was 26, which he set in 2021, when he threw for a career-high 3,860 yards.
While it might be unlikely to see him catch on as a consistent starter somewhere, stranger things have happened. So perhaps he’ll find his way. In any event, best of luck to Taulia Tagovailoa in the draft process.
