On Wednesday, the Maryland Terrapins scored a big win in the NCAA transfer portal. Former North Carolina State quarterback MJ Morris will zoom up the East Coast after playing in Raleigh and now in College Park.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Morris transferred to the Terps.
Fawcett reported the news Wednesday evening on X, the popular website formerly known as Twitter.
“Former NC State QB MJ Morris has committed to Maryland, he tells @on3sports,” Fawcett posted. Morris will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Like many others, Maryland will have a tough road ahead of them in the new Big Ten. The conference will expand this offseason to include Oregon, Southern Cal, UCLA, and Washington. Those four programs will super-size the conference to eighteen teams as a newer style of college football begins to take shape around the country.
Morris will look to improve upon the work he’s already been credited for. Morris didn’t see the field too much for the Wolfpack in his career. He played nine career games in 2022 and 2023, going for 115-199, 1,367 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
He will replace Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of NFL star Tua Tagovailoa. Taulia left Maryland as its single-season and all-time leader in completions and passing yards. So Morris will have big shoes to fill this coming season.
