Alabama defeated the LSU Tigers in primetime on Saturday night. The eighth-ranked Crimson Tide has gotten hot lately after a cold start to the 2023 college football season. Head coach Nick Saban appears pleased with the developments.

Saban also got attention over the weekend for another reason. A video across the Internet showed Saban talking to LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson. On Thursday, the legendary head coach appeared on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ Naturally, the interaction came up in discussion.

At the time, Saban appeared to say to Anderson, “You know, you’d be playing more here than you are there.” He addressed those comments on Thursday’s show.

“I think Aaron, you know, would have been playing a lot of football for us this year,” Saban said. “He’s an outstanding player, he’s a fine young man, we were happy to get him in recruiting. We hated to see him go, but you know, these things aren’t personal to me, and I will support the player, I want to see him do well. I want to see all players be more successful in life because of the experience they had in college football.

“So, having resentment toward guys that [leave], I just don’t do that,” Saban said. “And, you know, guy’s from Louisiana, so I get it. But it’s just not personal to me.”

Anderson previously played for Alabama before he decided to transfer from Tuscaloosa to Baton Rouge. It’s probably a good thing that Saban feels this way, considering how a lot of coaches have reached the transfer portal’s explosion.
