The Oregon Ducks have been aggressive in the transfer portal already. They recently landed a commitment from veteran quarterback Dillon Gabriel. But it appears that Dan Lanning and the Ducks aren’t through yet with the quarterback position.
Oregon is still targeting rising sophomore quarterback Dante Moore. Formerly an elite five-star prospect, Moore chose UCLA over the Ducks and the Michigan Wolverines last offseason. But after one season in Pasadena, Moore opted to hit the transfer portal.
Now, it seems that Oregon might be making a serious play for him.
On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos wrote, “UCLA transfer quarterback Dante Moore will be visiting Oregon this week.” Nakos wrote the news on Moore’s visit on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
UCLA transfer quarterback Dante Moore will be visiting Oregon this week, a source tells @On3sports, arriving on Thursday.
On3's @ChadSimmons_ previously reported a visit was "very likely." Former five-star recruit could develop next to Dillon Gabriel. https://t.co/70pYfOXe7b pic.twitter.com/tVi4i6YTfl

As a freshman at UCLA, Moore completed 114 of 213 pass attempts. His completion percentage of 53.5 percent coincided with just 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. So there’s much room to grow.
If one thing is sure about Lanning and the staff at Oregon, they have coached quarterbacks well. Bo Nix did not play nearly as well at Auburn despite a lot of talent, but he locked in up in Eugene the last two seasons. He played his way into being a Heisman contender.
So the hope has to be that they can get something out of Moore. But this feels like a move for the future as well, which is a positive for the Ducks. While they may feel Gabriel can offer them something now, perhaps something will be waiting in the wings if they land Moore.
