Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be in their seventh consecutive AFC Championship Game this Sunday. Mahomes and the Chiefs will compete against the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens, who are led by MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson.
This will mark the first time Mahomes and the Chiefs will play the AFC Championship Game on the road though. And fittingly, it’s Baltimore’s first AFC Championship Game in the city of Baltimore. Their previous trips all took place somewhere else.
Mahomes spoke highly of Jackson at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. The two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time Super Bowl MVP said of facing Jackson, “The way he’s able to score the football… I’ve admired watching him from afar,” Mahomes said via a post from the NFL on X. “I know it’s going to be a great challenge going against him.”

Mahomes and Jackson are two of the most talented and accomplished quarterbacks in the league. Lamar could be on his way to his second NFL MVP award, having won his first in the 2019 season. The only thing Jackson hasn’t gotten out of Baltimore is a deep playoff run. But last Saturday’s win over the Houston Texans assured that Lamar and the Ravens will play another week.
But they will have to get through a juggernaut in Kansas City to do it.
