Two weeks after promoting interim head coach Antonio Pierce to full-time head coach, the Las Vegas Raiders appear to have found their offensive coordinator… again.

Late last week, it appeared the Raiders would be hiring former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, but negotiations fell through and Kingsbury is now being considered for the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator job per NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo.

The Raiders wasted no time moving on from Kingsbury. They’re reportedly set to hire former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

After spending most of his career in various offensive position coaching roles with the Green Bay Packers, Getsy was the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears for the past two seasons. Chicago’s offense was one of the unbalanced in the league in Getsy’s tenure. In 2022, Chicago averaged just 130 passing yards per game, the worst in the NFL, but compensated with the league’s best rushing attack with 177.3 yards per game. 2023 saw the Bears passing offense improve to 182 yards per game, still in the bottom quarter of the league, while their rushing offense was down to 141.1 yards per game, second in the league behind the Baltimore Ravens.

If nothing else, Getsy never seemed to put Bears quarterback Justin Fields in a position to succeed. How much of that was Getsy’s fault compared to how much was Fields’ fault will be revealed via how successful the Raiders offense is.
