The Minnesota Twins won’t have one of their star players for the next couple of days or so.

Carlos Correa, who joined the team in 2022, strained his oblique. As a result of that oblique strain, the Twins will place the two-time American League All-Star on the 10-day injured list.

Twins dugout reporter Audra Martin reported the news that the Twins placed Correa on the IL.

“Carlos Correa is headed to the IL with an oblique strain,” Martin said. Martin also clued Twins fans in on two corresponding moves the club made.

In three years with the Twins, Correa’s played pretty solid baseball. He’s totaled 40 homers in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, with a 22-homer effort in 2022. He fell two home runs shy of another 20-home run season last year, finishing with 18. This stint on the IL will slightly derail his quest for another, but perhaps not too much.

Correa won the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017 and was named AL Rookie of the Year back in 2015. Over his celebrated career, Correa has played as one of the best shortstops in MLB. His presence in the lineup likely will be missed, but for the Twins’ sake, it appears to be a short-term injury.

The MLB world had much to say about Carlos Correa and his looming short trip to the IL.
