The Alabama Crimson Tide may have reeled off a winning streak since their loss to Texas. However, that still doesn’t have them on everyone’s good side.

Fox college football analyst and former head coach Urban Meyer is still unsure what to make of Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide. The 2023 version of Alabama has looked hot and cold at times this season. That’s caused Meyer, who won three National Championships as a head coach, to consider the Tide an “enigma” at this point in the season.

“To me, Alabama’s still an enigma,” Meyer said on ‘Urban’s Take with Tim May’ on On3. “I thought they started getting better, they beat Ole Miss, they looked very good. Mississippi State, then they played Arkansas, and they didn’t look very good again. I look at the numbers of the quarterback and just offensively they’re nowhere what they were in the past.”

The 6-1 Tide have averaged 219.4 passing yards and 148.4 rushing yards per game this season. They’ve averaged 5.9 yards per play, meanwhile, but just 3.8 yards per carry. Lead rusher Jase McClellan has 454 yards and three rushing touchdowns while quarterback Jalen Milroe leads the team with five rushing touchdowns. Milroe has thrown for 1,397 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions.

So, make what you will of that and Meyer’s statement. Urban probably isn’t too far off, which makes for intrigue that wasn’t there in previous years for Alabama in all of their games.
