Bronny James made headlines on Thursday for positive reasons. Four months after going into cardiac arrest, the celebrated freshman announced that he’s been clear to resume basketball activities and to make a full return to the court.
Bronny, the son of NBA living legend LeBron James, will attend USC this fall.
Shams Charania reported the news on Thursday afternoon.
“After recovering from cardiac arrest in late July, USC freshman Bronny James has been cleared to make a full return to basketball,” Charania said. “He will resume practice next week for Trojans and return to games soon after.”

James released a statement through a family spokesperson. The statement read:
“Bronny James is now cleared by his doctors for a full return to basketball. Bronny will have a final evaluation with USC staff this week, resume practice next week, and return to games soon after. The James family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible medical team, the entire USC community, and especially the countless friends, family, and fans for their love and support. Fight On!”
James’ return to the court in this quick a turnaround is nothing short of miraculous. There will be plenty of attention on him when he finally does return to the floor. USC is out to a fast 5-2 start and figures to be a player this season. A lot of that had to do with Bronny, and the team is succeeding already. They’ll no doubt be boosted, if nothing else by their morale, with this emerging news on his status.
