The New York Yankees recently signed veteran right-hander Marcus Stroman. After several years with the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, and the Chicago Cubs, Stroman now will take up shop in The Bronx.

Stroman talked to the New York media on Thursday as part of his introduction to the team. During his opening spiel, Stroman recognized the deal at hand. The Yankees are one of the most visible sports franchises in the world. Things are different, or at least are supposed to be.

Stroman is geared up for his first start in pinstripes at Yankee Stadium. It excites him.

“I’m someone who I feel like the pressure and the lights, it brings out the best in me. So I’m excited. I’m excited to feel the energy of the New York Yankees. The crowd, the buzz. I think my start day is something that I’m getting chills kind of thinking about. Looking forward to,” Stroman said. “I can’t wait.”

This kind of chatter will likely only endear himself to the Yankees fanbase. New York wants a winner and wants a team that knows who they are. The Yankees haven’t won a World Series since 2009 and have come up short oftentimes in getting to the World Series. But there’s always hope for a turnaround, and Marcus Stroman is hoping to deliver one.
