Volleyball is not often considered to be a rough sport, but the velocity at which a volleyball can travel after a player goes for a spike makes the sport a bit more hazardous than most would think. That is what makes a player’s ability to counter a spike as the ball comes at a rapid pace so fascinating. It may not be a 100 mph fastball, but the sting that can be left by a volleyball is nothing to take lightly.

Now imagine taking a spiked ball to the head. It happens from time to time, and it often leads to the opposing team scoring a point off of you. But one volleyball player in Utah managed to turn the cards in her favor by pure accident. After taking a spiked ball to the face, the girl fell to the ground while the ball bounced back in the air and landed on her opponent’s side of the court, scoring a point.

Now that’s what we call using your head.

As you can see in the video, the girl taking the ball to the face popped right back up to celebrate her most unqiue point, and her teammates congratulated her as well. Some of her teammates looked to be in some mild disbelief over what they just witnessed, as we all should be.
