We knew Ronda Rousey was feeling down after her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, but we didn’t know it was this bad.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which is set to air on Tuesday, Rousey discussed her loss for the first time in detail and began by describing how she was very disturbed afterward while in the hospital.

Rousey said, “I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second I’m like ‘I’m nothing, what do I do anymore and no one gives a s–t about me anymore without this.'”

Rousey expressed that her boyfriend Travis Browne kept those dark thoughts out of her mind, keeping her going and giving her strength. “To be honest I looked up and I saw my man Travis was standing up there and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive,” Rousey said.

It was a rare moment of vulnerability and insight into what Rousey was thinking and feeling after the fight. If anyone believed that she cared more about her burgeoning movie career rather than fighting, her open and honest remarks should strike those doubts down.

The former MMA bantamweight champion kept a low profile after the loss, and wasn’t seen for nearly two weeks after the fight. She also hosted Saturday Night Live in January, where she was able to joke about her loss and congratulate Holm.

Rousey also was revealed as one of three covergirls for Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit edition, along with Ashley Graham and Hailey Clauson, appearing in body paint. Although she has been taking time off from the sport, she has just recently gotten back into the ring and started training.

While initially expected to fight again this summer, Rousey’s next match is expected to be in the fall and we can only hope that it will be that coveted rematch with Holm. But first, and most importantly, Rousey needs to get back to being herself.
