Andrej Stojaković

Former Sacramento Kings star Peja Stojaković was one of the most underrated players of his generation, making three All-Star games in his NBA career. Peja’s son Andrej Stojaković is quite the high school basketball player himself, and Andrej made his college basketball commitment on Monday night.

Stojaković is currently ranked No. 24 on ESPN’s top 100 in the class of 2023. He revealed that he will be playing college basketball for the Stanford Cardinal next season.

“I am excited to announce that next year that I will be attending Stanford University,” said Stojakovic prior to putting on a Stanford hat.

The 17-year-old prospect offered a statement shortly after his televised decision to 247 Sports, saying that Stanford was ultimately the best fit for him athletically and academically.

“I ultimately chose Stanford because in my eyes it wasn’t just the best basketball decision for me but it was also the best academic, long-term decision of the four. I believe in the whole program from top to bottom and the whole coaching staff and their philosophy.”

Stojaković previously narrowed his top schools down to Oregon, Texas, UCLA, and Stanford, but ultimately decided to commit to Stanford.

According to MaxPreps.com, Stojaković averaged 25.3 points per game along with 9.3 rebounds per game in his junior year at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, CA.

Stanford fans took to social media following Stojakovic’s decision to congratulate him on his choice and offer their well wishes.

This is obviously a huge addition for a Stanford program that desperately needs an impact player, which Stojaković projects to be.

Stanford already got off to a good start to their 2022-23 season, beating the Pacific Tigers 88-78 on Monday.
