Bobby Knight on Undeniable with Joe Buck.

It looks like college basketball coaching legend Bob Knight is going through a concerning health scare that has landed him in the hospital in need of prayers.

According to Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star, Bob Knight has been in the hospital with “an acute illness” since Friday evening.

“Former IU coach Bob Knight was admitted to the hospital Friday evening, according to a message distributed to program alumni,” Osterman wrote for The Indianapolis Star on Monday morning. “Per the contents of the message, a brief update spread to former players, the hall-of-fame coach had been admitted with an acute illness. The hope is Knight will be able to return home sometime soon.”

Longtime sports reporter Rick Bozich of WDRB in Louisville shared a similar message on Twitter, revealing that the letter specifically asked former Indiana players to pray for the legendary coach.

“Letter went out tonight to former #iubb players to pray for Bob Knight, the former Indiana coach. It said he has been hospitalized in Bloomington since Friday but they hope he is home soon,” Bozich said in a tweet.

It’s a scary update to one of the legends of college basketball, and the sports world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

Obviously, the sports world is praying for a swift and speedy recovery for the legendary coach.
