The East Carolina Pirates basketball program hasn’t had all that much success in recent years, which led second-year head coach Michael Schwartz to bring in a coach that certainly has his fair share of baggage.
According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Michael Schwartz has decided to bring on former Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams as an assistant under him.
Adams coached at Texas Tech for two seasons before stepping down this past season after some serious allegations emerged against him.

Adams was suspended ahead of the Big 12 Tournament last season after an alleged incident where he referenced Bible verses about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters. He stepped down from his role with the program just three days after being suspended.
It is somewhat sudden to see Adams receive another opportunity in college basketball after such serious allegations.
His time at Texas Tech obviously has a massive stain on it for obvious reasons, but he did seemingly help them perform on the court during his time in Lubbock. In just his first season with the program, he led the Red Raiders all the way to the Sweet 16 before falling to Duke.
There will be some very obvious critics of this move based purely on the morality of him coaching in college basketball again. However, it could be a move that does pay off for the program as they look for answers on the court.
