As many people already know, former LSU great Shaquille O’Neal recently said that women’s basketball star Angel Reese was the greatest athlete to play at LSU.

“She’s probably the greatest athlete ever to come out of LSU sports. … Male and female,” he said.

But former LSU track and field star Lolo Jones said not so fast, Shaq. Jones blasted the former LSU star for his comments.

Jones accused Shaq of being high when he made those comments.

“Shaq knew what he was doing,” Jones said. “Shaq’s just bored. He’s coming off hip surgery. He’s chilling at home. I think Shaq, honestly, is high on some pain medicines. The list is so big with LSU.”

“So, for Shaq to have the audacity to say ‘She’s the best ever,'” Jones continued, “I’m like, ‘Bro, chill on the pain meds,’ because that list is arduous. So long.”

She’s not wrong. LSU’s list of greatest athletes starts with O’Neal, Pete Maravich, recent Heisman winner Joe Burrow, and Jones, who has represented the U.S. in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. (She’s seen at top after a bobsled run in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.)

Shaq more than likely was just caught up in the moment of the Tigers winning the national championship when he said what he said.

Jones also added she is not dissing Reese, she just wanted other LSU athletes to be acknowledged as well.

“We’re not hating on Angel. We love to see it. She’s cooking. Let her keep cooking. But I’m telling you, LSU track and field is the powerhouse for that university.”
