Haley Cavinder

Haley Cavinder, a basketball star who is better known for being a social media influencer, announced her decision Monday to play next season at TCU.

Cavinder, and her fraternal twin sister, Hanna, who both starred at Miami, announced earlier this year on the ‘Today’ show they would skip their final season of eligibility. They planned to pursue a career in WWE wrestling.

But Haley Cavinder changed her mind and entered the NCAA transfer portal in October. She announced her decision to join TCU on social media.

“The last rodeo #committed,” Cavinder posted on X/Twitter.

Cavinder will join TCU for the 2024-25 season.

The move is a bonanza for both Cavinder and the Horned Frogs. Cavinder and her sister operate a TikTok account with millions of followers, and she’s certain to sign more lucrative NIL deals. Women’s basketball is not a huge revenue sport, but her presence will boost ticket sales and interest in the TCU program.

There have also been rumors that Cavinder is dating Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, which might also explain the decision to move to the Dallas-area school.

The point guard averaged 12.2 points and 4.9 points per game last season, helping lead the Hurricanes to the Elite Eight.

While many college basketball fans got tired of all the attention placed on Cavinder and her sister last season, Cavinder’s social media followers obviously love her, and her accounts featured some genuinely funny responses to her decision. One fan noted, “Welcome to TCU Haley! We are beyond excited to have you here and watch you play for the Frogs next season. I’m a millionaire and drive a Lamborghini btw.”
