A former top-40 recruit hopped into the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

Nevada Wolf Pack redshirt junior Will Baker, a 7-footer from Austin Texas, will enter the portal. He spent the 2022-23 season with the Wolf Pack where he shot nearly 57% percent from the floor.

Verbal Commits on Twitter reported early Monday afternoon that Baker had entered the portal as a grad transfer. Baker then later took to Instagram and announced his decision to graduate from Nevada this spring and transfer for the second time in his collegiate career.

“I have been truly blessed to spend these last two and a half years at the University of Nevada,” Baker wrote on Instagram. “I’m deeply grateful for my coaches and teammates that have invested so much in this great program. I would also like to thank the fans and community in Reno for all their support. I’m proud that I will be graduating this spring from Nevada, and as I’m approaching my fourth season, I have decided to transfer while also pursuing graduate studies. I’ll always be grateful to have been a part of the Wolf Pack.”

He appeared in 32 games this past season with the Wolf Pack. Baker averaged 13.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in those contests. He shot 84.2 percent from the free throw line, as well.

Baker scored 17 points and hauled in six boards against Arizona State in the First Four of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the Wolf Pack fell 98-73 in what was his last game with the Nevada men’s basketball team.

Following the 2020-21 season, Baker, who attended Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, elected to transfer from the University of Texas. A five-star prospect coming out of high school, Baker was ranked the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2019 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Now, he’ll look to play for his third different collegiate program.
