Week 1 of the college football season has passed. And so, on Tuesday, a new Associated Press Top 25 arrived hot off the presses.

Jumping out at first was the drop that previously-ninth-ranked Clemson suffered. The Tigers lost to the Duke Blue Devils 28-7 on Monday night in Durham. The loss resulted in a 16-spot plummet down the ladder. Clemson now ranks 25th in the nation after being in the Top 10 last week.

TCU suffered a similar drop out of the Top 25 after their loss to Colorado. Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes leaped into this week’s poll at No. 22. Duke, who defeated the aforementioned Clemson Tigers, also climbed into the poll at No. 21.

Notre Dame and Tennessee each climbed up into the Top 10 this week. The Irish and the Volunteers passed their respective tests and now have earned a high ranking.

Florida State was a big mover in this week’s poll. The Seminoles jumped from No. 8 up to No. 4 after they defeated the LSU Tigers. The Noles are back in the Top 5 for the first time in a while. Conversely, on the flip side, LSU fell all the way down to 14th, dropping nine spots in the poll.

The Top 2 didn’t change, as Georgia and Michigan are still 1 and 2. Alabama moved up to 3rd, and FSU’s ascent meant someone had to drop. That someone was Ohio State, who fell two spots to 5th.

The college football world had plenty to say about the Top 25 shakeup.
