Five-star quarterback prospect Arch Manning has not seen any in-game action during the regular season after joining the Texas Longhorns in the spring, but it sounds like he’s impressing his coaches on the practice field.

During his press conference this week, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian had a pretty clear message for Arch Manning about how impressed he’s been with the young quarterback since he joined the Longhorns, revealing that he actually had the best practice of his career recently.

“I think Maalik [Murphy] and Arch have continued to grow systematically in a real sense and understanding of what we’re doing,” Sarkisian said. “I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I thought Arch probably had his best practice that he’d had since he’d been here.

“There has been great intent in that room with those guys working hard and working with [AJ] Milwee to take their game to another level because there’s going to come a time — knock on wood — where their number is going to get called on and we’re going to need them to play a high level of football to win a ballgame.”

While Manning is unlikely to see much action this year – if any at all – it’s clear that the Longhorns have high hopes for the young star.
