The LSU Tigers are still feeling the effects of their 45-24 loss to Florida State Sunday. The Tigers were not only defeated, they were dominated and embarrassed by the Seminoles.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly addressed the game and the aftereffects of the loss at his Tuesday press conference.

“That was a disappointing performance,” Kelly said. “No one is happy with it. No one from the LSU fan base should be happy with it. I’m certainly not. We’re disappointed.”

Kelly may have put a little pressure on his team while firing up the Seminoles with his comments about FSU, saying that his Tigers were going to beat them badly.

While the game was close in the first half, the Noles pulled away in the second half. Kelly naturally got dragged by college football fans for not only his comments but his team’s performance.

And while Kelly said he is not making excuses for the loss, he tried to explain what happened and one of the factors he blamed was a lack of experience.

“We had 11 true freshmen on that trip, five first-time starters — four on defense — and we had 14 transfers,” Kelly said. “50 percent of that roster was going through it for the first time.”

“This is not the team I thought it was,” Kelly added. “This has nothing to do with their physical ability. I knew who they were physically. But when you’re playing and competing at the highest level, this is about a connection between the mind and the body, and there was a disconnect there.”

Yet despite that, Kelly still bragged before the game that his Tigers would not only beat FSU but beat them badly and that didn’t happen.
