USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams has left the door open for a potential return to college football next season, even though he would likely be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if he declared. But one college football expert doesn’t necessarily think it’s likely that he returns.

During an appearance on ‘The Rich Eisen Show’ this week, college football insider Bruce Feldman of The Athletic made it clear that even though Williams hasn’t officially declared for the NFL Draft yet, he would be “shocked” if Williams returned for another season of college football.

“I’ll be shocked if he ends up staying at USC right now or staying in college football – period,” said Feldman.

“Again, I don’t know how he and his dad – his dad is helping manage him through this. I mean USC, right now, is in, certainly, a state of flux,” Feldman continued. “I mean, at this point? Like, you start your clock in terms of as a draft pick. If you delay it another year? I think, ultimately, it’s like, ‘Okay, are you that leery of who is going to take you?’”

Of course, there’s always a chance, but it sounds very likely that Williams will not be back in college football next year.
