Cam Rising brutal tackle

Cam Rising escaped injury Friday night in the Pac-12 Championship Game after a devastating tackle that knocked the Utah quarterback’s helmet off.

On a 3rd & 3 in the third quarter, Rising scrambled right, tucked the ball away and tried to run for the first down. He never made it. USC Trojans linebacker Ralen Goforth, running at full speed, put a clean hit on Rising that knocked him backward and sent his helmet flying.

Amazingly, Rising immediately popped up to his feet and smiled.

“Oh my gosh, what a hit!” exclaimed Fox Sports play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti.

Although Goforth stopped Rising short of the first down, a defensive holding penalty on the Trojans resulted in a first down for Utah. Rising had to sit out one play for a quick examination, but returned, amazingly intact.

Football fans watching the game could not believe the impact, or that Rising popped up so quickly.

“Cam Rising not only got up after that savage hit but walked off smiling. Football guy,” tweeted RJ Young.

“Cam Rising having long hair made this hit more majestic,” tweeted Unnecessary Roughness.

“Glad Cam Rising is fine,” tweeted Andrew Perloff.

Utah was ranked 11th in the latest CFP rankings, but will likely move up in the final rankings following their victory over USC.
