The Colorado Buffaloes finished with just a 4-8 record following their first season with new head coach Deion Sanders. But even though that may not be an overly impressive record, it sounds like Colorado athletic director Rick George is still quite pleased with the season.

During a recent interview with BuffZone, Rick George praised Deion Sanders, pointing out that even though the team’s record wasn’t necessarily good, it’s still a considerable improvement from last season and the team was at least able to compete in the majority of the games.

“I think if you went into this year, from at the end of last year? You’d be really happy to where we are,” George told BuffZone. “The fact that we’ve competed in (almost) every game tells me a lot about these players. I think when we get a full year with a group under our belt? I think we’re gonna see results that are going to really be meaningful.”

But more than just the results of the games, George is happy with the exposure and interest that Sanders has brought to the Colorado football program.

“The exposure has been great. People are very interested in us,” George said. “What he’s creating and the development of young men and all of those kinds of things are really important to people. While football is the driver that puts you there, it’s all the other things that have been very beneficial. People see that and recognize that. I think it’s gonna allow us to have great success in the future.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Sanders performs in his second season with the team.
