When the Colorado Buffaloes hired Deion Sanders as their head coach in December of 2022, they undoubtedly expected the team’s recruiting to improve. While that has indeed been the case, there was certainly a downside: recruiting violations.

According to a report from USA Today, Deion Sanders and Colorado have been hit with 11 different minor recruiting violations since Sanders was hired as the team’s head coach.

Despite the several violations of the NCAA rulebook, USA Today notes that Colorado actually self-reported all of the incidents and each of them “appear to be inadvertent violations of an NCAA rulebook that can be highly complex.” As a result, Colorado is not expected to receive significant punishments or sanctions.

Even though they are not exactly serious violations and it’s unlikely there will be any real ramifications, the news still led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Sanders has brought a lot of attention to the Colorado Buffaloes program since he took over as the team’s head coach. So naturally, Sanders and his team are hit with a lot of scrutiny when things like this happen, even if the violations are relatively minor.

We’ll have to see how Sanders and his team handle the scrutiny going forward.
