Deion Sanders and Dan Lanning

The No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes face their biggest test of the season so far this weekend when they head to Eugene to face the No. 10 Oregon Ducks.

Both teams have looked impressive en route to their 3-0 records, and the buzz surrounding Deion Sanders and Colorado is borderline immeasurable at this point.

Sanders, who hasn’t shied away from discussing other coaches leading up to games this season, shared his thoughts on Oregon head coach Dan Lanning on Tuesday. He said (via Adam Munsterteiger of 247Sports), “I respect the heck out of him. I love the way he runs his team, operates, so I have a lot of respect for him.”

Much like Sanders at Colorado, Lanning has boosted up the Oregon program in his short time there. The Ducks are 13-3 in the 16 games Lanning has coached since being hired away from his defensive coordinator role at Georgia in December 2021.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders have been two of the nation’s best pivots through the season’s first month. Sanders has thrown for 1,251 yards, second best in the nation, and has 10 touchdowns to just one interception. Nix checks in with 893 passing yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Oregon has done a tremendous job protecting the senior quarterback, as he’s been sacked just once this season.

While Colorado will be without two-way player Travis Hunter against the Ducks, there is a tremendous amount of hype leading up to the game. It will be aired on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 23.
