When the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams meet this week, it will be a matchup of two teams with Black head coaches between Deion Sanders and Jay Norvell. And it sounds like Sanders is quite proud of that.
During a press conference this week, Deion Sanders praised Mike Norvell ahead of the matchup and expressed his excitement that this year’s in-state rivalry showdown between the two teams will feature two Black head coaches. The unfortunate part, according to Sanders, is only that one of the coaches has to lose.
“What I hear, I haven’t met this gentleman, but I hear he’s a good man,” Sanders said according to On3. “I know he’s a great coach. He has those guys playing hard. I like that. I’m glad he said that, I like that. Unfortunately, one of the brothers got to lose. When you face another black head coach, unfortunately, and you want to see us win. I mean, that’s the thing, but besides that, it’s just tremendous getting this opportunity and allowing the nation to see that we are more than capable of doing a sufficient and a great job.”
Colorado State is 0-2, looking for its first win of the season, while Colorado is 2-0 after beating TCU and Nebraska.
